for everyone

I was so glad to see that article about causeway jams in the Straits Times about a week ago!

About time someone complained.

I don't ply the causeways as much but as some people do but I was stuck in one this saturday for 6 hours (to and fro). Tough traffic yes, but the more you think the more absurd the situation becomes.

I spent 2 hours clearing the Singapore customs and only 30 mins clearing the Malaysian customs. The Malaysians had this to say 'We open all 24 counters during peak periods'.

Wow. I could never have guessed that the solution would be that simple. (smirk!)

Our Woodlands checkpoint pales embarrassingly in comparison. Narrow snaking lanes designed to slow and restrict traffic flow. Unopened counters. Did we spent to much money to fail this badly? How come our guys can only claim that they were trying their best within 'manpower and budget constraints'.

Hmm.... $$$ put to poor use. Looking at our misadventure, I can't think of any reasons why the Malaysians might want to upgrade their side of the causeway. I wouldn't welcome 2 hour jams on BOTH sides of the causeway.

Soooooooooooooo..... we are now left with a less efficient and costly not so white elephant. Oh dear, have we been buangkoked again?

p.s. I took that picture with my hp - juz too bad the resolution is so bad. otherwise you might be able to see 2 hands sticking out. both with cigs.
