one of my last memories at the airport was the jet aircraft doing a 3
point turn on the runway before taking off. Paro International Airport
has one of the shortest runways in the world.
that is the view from the plane, with Paro Dzong (red roof) and the snow capped mountains in the background.
the actual tour (imho) starts on the plane.
sit on the correct side of the plane and you'll be rewarded with spectacular views. the pilots will usually point out the himalayan peaks one by one. jomahari, everest etc. flying into paro, it's on the left and on the right flying away from paro.
a window seat would be an excellent bonus. the plane flies in between mountains on the way in. quite an experience.
my parents had a tip from their yoga instructor at the uma. check in early and upgrade to the more comfortable business class seats for USD 50. it's worth the price.
